Barnardo's are part of a wider partnership led by the Violence Reduction Network, for Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland to become a trauma-informed area. The aim is for schools and organisations within LLR to become aware of the impact of childhood adversity and trauma and to develop their practice, to begin to work towards becoming trauma sensitive and informed. This aim is to embed this practice at the level of both individual practitioners and organisational culture. Additionally, efforts to co-ordinate strategic commitments to trauma-informed working are more likely to ensure organisational culture can be transformed where necessary. These efforts can then contribute to a reduction in the likelihood of children/young people becoming involved in crime and violence throughout their lives.
Free Trauma Informed Practice training is available for school staff within the LLR area. Training is available in Tier 1 & 2a. The flyers below explain more and also give the link for booking onto the courses which have been scheduled. Dates have been set for 2023/24.
